Unfortunately, another event clash has happened again... This time its EOY & STGCC, but since STGCC is on 3days, 10-12 Dec and EOY is only on 12 Dec, Sunday, so it wouldn't be much trouble right? Unless you're planning to go STGCC on Sunday, then EOY would have to be missed.
This year, EOY has got a new location, which theatre is 80% larger then last year and the foyer will be 100% larger than the venue at the National Library. There will also be limited tickets this year, only 3200 are going to be sold.

Am excited for the auditions, I would like to take part in more singing ones, especially now that the facilities would be good! Am considering the song 'Lion' by 'May'n & Megumi Nakajima' or 'Black ★ Rock Shooter' by the famous 'Hatsune Miku'. I am also planning to cosplay Sheryl Nome 'Blue Costume' Version for EOY, but am considering whether to get a new wig since my current Sheryl wig is in very bad condition.

Uppies!
First of all, no Natsu Matsuri updates cos I managed to arrive later & see the MASSIVE amount of people queuing inside the school gate. Outside the school gate also had people, they weren't allowed to go in... So I gave this event a miss. What is more devastating is that I'll have to give A.C.M.E a miss too :'( My mother planned a barbecue with her colleagues & I'm going along with her, thus = no cosplay & no pictures to share. Now I'll have to wait til November (?) for the next event, Anime Festival Asia X!
I found an amazing thread on sgcafe listing 'Buying, Renting, & Selling' for cosplay costumes, accessories, etc. It's really elaborate & goes by anime series, then character and the username of the seller/buyer/renter. Then you just have to scroll down & find the username, & click on the link to view the thread. Of course, some updates are slow but this is expected, there are so many threads & the compiler has to sift through every thread to update. Events in August
*Points to title* As mentioned, today shall be about Events in August. Coming up, we have NatsuMatsuri, which translates to Summer Festival in English.
Details for NatsuMatsuri
Date: 21 August (Sat)
Starts at: 5pm
Ends at: 10pm
Venue: Japanese Primary School (11 Upper Changi Road North (S) 507657)
Admission Fee: $2
NO COSPLAY IS ALLOWED, Yukatas are available for rental at $2 (Cheap, considered to buying from shops which cost $100+ (I think) There are local stalls who sell them too. My guess is that it'll be something like those Summer Festivals you see in anime (From my inference because I have never gone for the past years) Food will be sold, like Japanese Curry, Bentos, Sushi, Candy apples.
The following week, there's A.C.M.E II A Certain Magical Event
Details Date: 28 August (Sat) Starts at: TBC Venue: Sculpture Square (How to get there http://www.sculpturesq.com.sg/location.html) Admission Fee: Free I'm guessing the main highlight would be the Touhou Hisoutensoku Tournament. It's some game challange I guess, you have to sign up if I'm not wrong.

Black ★ Rock Shooter OVA - Epic or epically disappointing? *SPOILERS*
Epic or epically disappointing? The long-awaited OVA finally gets released, but how many people actually enjoyed the whole 50min series?
The series starts off with a dark scene with Black ★ Rock Shooter fighting another girl (not sure who) and the title. Seems epic enough? However after the title begins another scene that shows a girl, Mato. A typical morning for the start of a school day. Mato meets another girl, Yomi (who resembles Dead Master) who ignores her when their eyes meet. It turns out they are in the same class later. Another snippet of the alternate world and the opening ceremony for the new students.
Around the 15 minute of the OVA, Dead Master appears and they have a staring contest.
Well skipping parts, Mato & Yomi eventually become good friends while BRS & DM begin their fight... Like most of our lives, the two friends get split into different classes in the second year and start to communicate less while Mato makes a new friend, the manager of the basketball club, Yuu. Mato eventually senses something is wrong but Yomi suddenly has disappeared. She receives a call from Yomi but it hung up immediately. Sensing something, Mato runs to the park where she brought Yomi to once and finds the handphone strap she gave to her a while ago on the ground. Picking it up, a pillar of light engulfs her.
Meanwhile, BRS is captured by DM but she breaks free and hugs DM, which shows some sign of the consciousness of Yomi. DM struggles, but BRS holds on tight and eventually DM falls of the cliff which reveals Yomi & BRS. The castle crumbles and BRS runs out, carrying Yomi with her and she meets Mato. (skips spoiler part) They both join bodies & BRS reveals herself to be BLACK ★ ROCK SHOOTER.
The end... Credits roll down, and "What the hell did I just watch? I expected to see epic fighting, ot some friendship slice-of-life anime" is what I have been seeing for online reviews. Apparently I stupidly went to read reviews in the middle of the show, which gave me a bad impression. However, while continuing to watch, the story wasn't that bad at all... It was a beautiful friendship that some people take for granted but realises how important it was to them after the person is gone. I admit, I was disappointed at first after reading the reviews but the ending part was so lovely and touching that it made up for the disappointment. So to summarize, it had its good and bad points. For people who have not heard the song 'Black ★ Rock Shooter' by Hatsune Miku or seen the trailers, it would be enjoyable for them to watch since they do not expect much. However, for fans like me who have watched the trailers, it would be quite a great disappointment.
I just have one doubt, why exactly is another song used for the ending when the title is 'Black ★ Rock Shooter' and the main song is too titled 'Black ★ Rock Shooter'??? Its still a good ending though, and I hope you actually did enjoy the OVA regardless of the disappointment.

Yeps so here's my experience today. Reached there around 5pm and when I arrived there was still a large amount of people there. Like WOW, its so late and there are still so many cosplayers, photographers & people around. Definitely more people than day1. Went into the tent to browse the shops because I felt that I just had to buy something, but unfortunately I didn't. A plush leek did pique my interest though but when I returned to buy it, it was out of stock ): Seems like I have to pop by the store to purchase it. I wanted it for my default Miku costume DX
I then went outside to take more photos of the cosplayers and left around 7. I think I had already missed the Karaoke Competition winners performance when I reached... Due to my poor memory, I couldn't remember what songs the winners sang yesterday... xD
Also, I did mentioned that I would cosplay Sheryl Nome on day2, but due to the lack of time, I was unable to cosplay. However, the large amount of cosplayers made me really regret not cosplaying.
Day 1 of Cosfest is over (: Let me share some of my experiences today.
Reached there around 11.30 to register for the karaoke competition and meet up with my (new) friends. I'm so glad to befriend someone who actually is interested in anime/cosplay, because I have ZERO friends who are interested in these kind of stuff... So anyway, we went for lunch at Macdonalds, saw some cosplayers, then went back to the event hall. They were starting the Anime Games World Music Competition, some teams were really good and the first team's vocalist sounded like Tsuna from Katekyo Hitman Reborn! xD Then the karaoke competition started... Was super nervous but after hearing the other contestants I calmed down. My 2 friends sang Hitotsu Dake from Katekyo Hitman Reborn! (Contestant 9) & Hoshizora no SPICA from Mahou Shoujo Lyrical Nanoha StrikerS (Contestant 10).They really did a great job, unlike me, I sounded horrible... (Contestant 29)
So when contestant 28 was performing, the organizers didn't call me backstage so I thought that maybe they were taking a break after her, but when the song ended and the next song was announced, I immediately ran to them and luckily I was given enough time to prepare & for them to restart the song. Before I stepped out I was soooo nervous but after getting out on stage I just kind of calmed down & sang the song (Tsunaida te ni Kiss wo from D.Gray-Man) No actions, nothing... Total FAIL. If the video gets uploaded by someone I'll post it here. I didn't win btw, but it was a memorable experience.
And the most important part of the whole event. I got to meet Kaika!!!! Like OMG!!!! I was like whining about wanting to meet Kaika, & suddenly, like poof, she was in front of me... I was practically shouting: OMG IT'S KAIKA! & went to take a photo with her. Her sleeves wasnt put on yet so it took some time but I didn't mind cos it was so awesome to be able to take photos with her. She cosplayed Kagamine Rin btw, default version.
So Cosfest day1 ended in a flash, with tons of fun & excitement, unfortunately I probably can't make it for day2, so for those who are going, hope you have as much fun as I did.

Anxious Preparation!
As I mentioned in my previous post, Cosfest is tomorrow... I still haven't prepared my costume yet!!! I'm collecting my Rin wig today and I still have to DIY a hairband, 2 guns and some dangling string thing. And the worst thing is that I still have to buy a yellow tie to complete it. I'll be going to Bugis Street later to look around. Hope I find what I want. (and need)
